A job search will fail if you never get out from behind your computer.  No one ever earned a job offer simply by perfecting their resume and doing research.

My friends that fish have an expression that works for a lot of things in life:  MOB, or Meat On the Bank.  This refers to the fact that while fly fisherman can spend many hours analyzing flies and practicing the beautiful ballet of casting, if nobody has put Meat On the Bank at the end of day everybody goes hungry.  In other words, sometimes it can be easy to get lost in the process and forget the end goal.

A lot of time is spent in the job search process perfecting resumes and cover letters and researching the perfect career.  Which is safe, and theoretical, and makes you feel like you are working hard.  No one ever got rejected sitting behind a computer. But, alas, no one ever got a job offer that way.  With no MOB, you go hungry.

I’m a hiring manager with over 20 years of experience.

I’m not a recruiter.  I’m not a life coach.  I know what gets you MOB.  Follow me this month for more.
